Well this part on thier website, seem to me, not to be a quite objective point of view:
"Like a spurned younger brother, Judge disagreed, and at the Society's Convention in 1895 he led 85 of the American groups to secede. The remaining Americans loyal to Besant included the founders of the Krotona colony in Hollywood."
And Theosophy is by its founders called, - and I quote: "the exact science on psychology" and altrusim at its core.

Thanks for the info. In my opinion, the essay is well written indeed but
hardly very well researched. It seems to be merely an annotated
collation of quotations from "Krotona of Old Hollywood" (which volumes
of four published ones?) created by an inauspicious outsider and it's
far from clear if it is representative.
