TS Membership Trend in India and outside

One more question for Keith:

In his msg posted on Internet, Warwick Keys, GS of NZ, talks about the inner
decay he saw in Adyar. This was his observation after a very brief visit to

The question is, did he or anyone else in the meeting - formally or
otherwise - discuss the inner decay and/or the membership issue outside

This is important because, thousands of TS members in India have visited
Adyar in the recent years and no one has seen the decay Keys saw. Also this
has to be viewed with the background of the steady growth of membership in
India, making it today the largest section in the world. This simply points
to the vibrancy and dynamism of the Indian Section.

On the other hand, the situation outside India is rather sad. Membership has
been steadily declining with poor retention. In the Dutch section no new
lodge has been chartered in the last 50 years. In the South African Section,
first new lodge was chartered, in 58 years. In the USA, the current
membership is about the same as it was in the 1920s. What do you call this
