I would not be so hasty and call it " incontrovertible archaelogical evidence". It is, perhaps, 
better to speak of 
consensus science.

After all, I have newspaper clippings going back to the early 19th century in which scientists 
ask themselves 
whether or not the Egyptians knew electricity - how else were they to light the long, dark 
passageways in the 
pyramids as no sooth was found, or if the pyramids were constructed with cement stones 
instead of hard, cut
