Wry's explanation-part 1
Dec 15, 2002 02:36 PM
Hi. This is meant to be part one of a several part message in which I will attempt to explain what was going on in my mind when I mistook Paul for Brian. I have apologized for this and I am genuinely sorry, and I will try to explain how these suspicions arose. It is easy to play characters on different lists such as this and to come on with different email addresses and identities. Usually, though, most people do not do this and I have never done it myself (yet, that is, and probably never will).
I have said that I would think about the ethics of making insinuations without being specific. I have thought this over a lot and have come to the conclusion that though it is not necessarily unethical to publicly voice ones so-called paranoia's, this does tend to lead to, as Paul has suggested, an atmosphere that is not wholesome, but once a person is actually named, it is unethical not to give at least some specific reasons for said suspicions. I did not see my behavior to be unethical at the time, as I considered a certain email by Brian in which he was actually quoting Paul, which I honestly did not realize, to be evidence that everyone would understand. I believe that something weird was actually going on on this list regarding some kind of role playing and hidden agendas (but nothing to do with Crowley, as that would be too stupid), and that this in itself created an atmosphere that encouraged my suspicions.
I have only very recently (in the last week) come to consider the possibility that certain people were attempting to undermine Theosophy because they sincerely believe it is a movement that has been and is detrimental to humanity and that it is their duty to do something about this. I will go into this more in a later message, and also explain how Paul came into my own mental picture about all of this PREVIOUS to the understanding I have recently come to.
Between this message and the making of part 2 and 3 etc., I may leave messages on other material, as this is sort of boring to me, though it probably will not be so to some others. Sincerely, Wry
