Jerry: "Studies have shown that people who have a religous belief
live longer and are generally happier than agnostics or atheists.
Most psychologists attribute this to having meaning in their life.
Theosophy also provides us with meaning, provides us with the idea of
treading a Path toward a nobel goal, and therefore will benefit us
whether true or not."
Yes I know that study, In fact when I mentioned it on Universal
Seekers on Oct. 12 last year, one nice lady responded with saying :
" Brigitte, the positive effect has to do with community life.
And
community life provides individuals and entire families with a sense
of security and strength.
Adherence to the same set of religious law unites members of a
community around a common vision.
Choose any religion that appeals to you, go to their meetings and let
go of all skepticism. Then you can reap those benefits for yourself.
There is nothing to loose."
I tought that was realy nice of her to say that.
Reg. Theosophy, I'l have to think about that.
Certainly it seems to work for Adelasie.
Maybe I shouldn't tell her anymore that Olcott makes it clear
that Blavatsky had about 100 books at the Lamasery and some less
charitable critics (such as William Emmette Coleman) have found
little in Isis Unveiled which she could not have cribbed from these
texts. Further, Countess Wachtmeister and the Keightleys make it
clear that Blavatsky had a large library at hand for the writing of
The Secret Doctrine, and employed these and library texts regularly
calling for certain books at need.
